1. Gokseong
What is it? A new thriller from Na Hong-jin, the director of The Chaser (2005) and The Yellow Sea (2008). A small town mystery involving a policeman and a shaman, the film has a killer cast: Hwang Jung-min (The Unjust, 2010), Kwak Je-yong (The Attorney, 2013) and Chun Woo-hee (Han Gong-ju, 2013).
Why is it a contender? Both of Na’s previous films went to Cannes, he hasn’t had a new film in five years, and the timing is right.
Will it be ready? It began production over five months ago so it wouldn’t be a stretch for it to ready in time.
What are its chances? Relatively high.
