Most Anticipated Korean Films of 2016

17. A Man and a Woman
남과 여
Dir: Lee Yoon-ki (My Dear Enemy, 2006)
Cast: Jeon Do-yeon (Secret Sunshine, 2007), Gong Yoo (The Suspect, 2013)
Production: Bom Film Productions
Distribution: Showbox
Filming Dates: 2014-11-19 ~ 2015-03-23
Status: Completed
Genre: Drama, Romance

Plot: The tale of a forbidden love in snowy Finland between a Korean woman with a handicapped child and a Korean architect on assignment.

What to expect: I love Lee Yoon-ki and it's been too long since we've seen something new from him. Teaming up with Jeon Do-yeon again and shooting in Estonia (doubling for Finland) also add plenty of promise. However, this does sound a little more melodramatic than his other outings, and the buzz has faded quite a bit, particularly as it did not receive a Berlinale invite, like all his others films have.

When can we see it? Comes out in Korea in February, though it’s possible that it could be delayed.
