News: Bae Doo-na Boards Omnibus THE ROMANTIC

By Pierce Conran

Bae Doo-na is close to signing on to what would be her first commercial Korean film since 2012's As One. The film in question is The Romantic, an omnibus drama in the same mould as Love Actually (2003).

Also appearing in the film will be Ryoo Hyoun-kyoung, who already has four films scheduled for this year, including Im Sang-soo's My Intimate Enemies. Holding the director's reigns will be Jung Ha-rin, who debuted in 2012 with Miss Cherry's Love Puzzle.

Of late, Bae has been busy in numerous overseas productions from the Wachowski Siblings, including Cloud Atlas (2012), the current Jupiter Ascending and the forthcoming TV show Sense8. She also starred in July Jung's critically acclaimed indie A Girl at My Door, which went to Cannes last year.

Production duties fall to Filma Pictures and once casting has been finalized, shooting is scheduled to begin in April.
