For me, A Dirty Carnival (2006) is the very best Korean gangster film, and Yu Ha one of Korea's most adept genre directors (though interestingly, his roots are as a poet), so obviously I'm excited for this. The setting (turf warfare in developing 70s Gangnam) seems terrific but I'll admit that I'm not particularly keen on the cast. The mainstream Korean industry is also very different from what it was in 2006 and Yu is coming off a flop so we'll see how that plays into his latest gangster opus.
